MCS are Chilled Water specialists, offering a range of top-quality brands including Midea, Clivet, Sinko and Samsung products. In collaboration with Fourways Airconditioning and Imperial Airconditioning, MCS, brings the most extensive service and product offering on the market, supported by a sales and technical teams with over 150 years’ experience in the industry. In addition, we’re a level 2 BEE Company with offices in Johannesburg and Cape Town.

The Team

Mfundo Ciko – Director

Mfundo has more than 20 years’ Experience in the Air Conditioning industry, having started his career at Metraclark in Cape Town.

He then joined the Carrier Chiller Division (CMS) in Johannesburg where he gained experience in Design, Sales, and Product Management.

A two year stint back in Cape Town for Carrier Chiller Division, saw him involved in the following projects:

  • BP Head Office- V&A Waterfront
  • The Paddocks Shopping Centre- Milnerton
  • Daimler Chrysler Dealership- Century City

He then relocated back to Johannesburg, where he was appointed the  Product Manager for Carrier Residential Air Conditioning systems and responsible for product line up, forecasting, pricing, marketing and Dealer Management.

A change of focus, saw him joining Fourways Air Conditioning  to focus on growing their Samsung VRF systems market. He was privileged to work on many key projects, with the highlight being the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital.

Since March 2019, he has found a way back into the chiller market with MCS, where they specialise in Midea, Clivet, Sinko and Samsung range of Chilled water products.

Steven Commins – Senior Sales Engineer

In 1991, Steven started his career as an apprentice at RJB Airconditioning where he later qualified as an ‘Industrial Refrigeration Mechanic.’  During the 7 years and 8 months stay there, he progressed to the engineering department and became a Contracts Manager where he provide design and supply of Airconditioning and Ventilation in the industry .

In 1999, he was employed by Industrial Refrigeration Supplies as a Sales Representative to promote Mitsubishi Daiya DX Airconditioning equipment.

After 11 months and the closure of IRS, he travelled to UK and worked as a Refrigeration Mechanic for 8 months and returned to join Aircon Sales and Engineering for 10 years and 5 months where he became a partner.  The products that he worked on included Chilled and Hot Water Fan Coil units through to Air Handling Units.

Intramech bought the Fan Coil Unit stock from Aircon Sales and employed Steven as a Sales Engineer (Fan Coil Unit Specialist) and with his experience and customer relations, he took the product and support thereof to another level which was done successfully.

After 6 years and 2 months, it was time to take on a new exciting challenge and he moved to MCS as a Senior Sales Engineer.

Peter Groves

Peter Joined the industry in 1985 and has had 34 years’ experience in the Industry in various roles.

Initially employed as a design draughtsman for Accessair in Johannesburg and worked on projects such as the conversion of the Rand Easter Showgrounds to part of the Wits Campus. Once Accessair opened their Pretoria branch he moved there as a Contracts Manager.

In 1987 he joined Wright Airconditioning which sold Close Control Systems and Solutions as the Service & Commissioning Manager and then transferred internally to Sales when the position became available.

In 1991 he opened his own business selling various products to the industry being AHU’s, Fan Coils, Close Control units and DX splits and was involved in the Hillside Smelter Richards Bay, Sunninghill Hospital, Gaborone Private Hospital but over the years has supplied many projects including Di Data The Campus in Bryanston, Mall of Africa and PWC Tower. During this time Peter became the sole importer of Sinko Fan Coils and Clivet Chillers (and all other Clivet products) into Southern Africa and the Indian Ocean Islands. He has also been a wealth of knowledge in the AHU design and manufacture as well.

In 2016, MIDEA China purchased 80% controlling interest in Clivet Italy and this prompted talks between Imperial Airconditioning who are the MIDEA importers and distributors in SA and Peter Groves Airconditioning. The nett result was that Peter Groves sold to Imperial Airconditioning and became part of that group on the 1st June 2017.

Peter brings a lot of institutional experience, with over 30 years spent in sales, manufacturing and engineering.
